Atlac® formulations: Combating corrosion for over 60 years
Process operators can run their processes smoothly and without interruption, because they use AOC’s Atlac® resin formulations for making tanks, pipes and processing equipment. Already for more than 60 years, parts made with Atlac® products have a track record of withstanding chemicals and water, often at elevated temperatures. The excellent durability of these parts translates in process reliability and minimized cost of ownership.
In addition, the Atlac® resins allow composite fabricators to make finished components with high design flexibility and application versatility. Ease of processing and product performance predictability, help to create the right laminate buildup for the application, maximize Q1 process output, and minimize production waste.
Track record of performance
Whether it is for storage tanks, storage vessels or for transport of liquids in chemical plants, components based on Atlac® formulations provide excellent durability, and optimized system cost.
Process water pipelines in steel (cooling water, firefighting lines) are often subject to corrosion, preventing a reliable operation or even resulting in process interruption through a pipe failure. Composites components based on Atlac® formulations ensure water supply is maintained, as these parts perform as expected even after many years of service.
For seawater inlets/ outlets, processing vessels, in-plant piping and filtration units in desalination installations, Atlac® formulations have been specified multiple times.
High heat environments
The exhaust gases of power plants, incinerators, and many industrial processes can contain traces of corrosive substances (for instance nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide). That is why spray banks, exhaust pipes, FGD liners, and electrostatic precipitators are often made with formulations from AOC. For high heat environments, a full range of Atlac® Novolac Epoxy products is available. These products are well known for resisting elevated temperatures and broadly applied.
Solutions for lower styrene exposure
AOC offers novel low styrene emission formulations (for example Atlac® 430E), containing highly effective ingredients that suppress styrene evaporation after application. Such products typically reduce styrene emissions during lamination (roughly 30 %) and improve surface cure at the same time. With these products, high quality laminates can be made in a variety of thickness, whether it is in single or in multiple process steps.
Styrene-free Atlac® Premium resin series offer excellent resistance especially against organic substances, and are used for production and repair of chemicals storage tanks.
