High Efficiency Odor Scrubbers
For most processed foods, an inviting aroma is just as important as taste. But before some foods hit the table,
processing steps can produce an unpleasant hydrogen sulfide (H2S) odor that needs to be neutralized for the benefit of plant personnel and the neighboring environment. Costly bio-filtration and other hydrogen sulfide-removal techniques can still leave tail gas remnants that still emit the chemical’s distinctive “rotten egg” odor. For higher performance at a lower cost, Heil Process Equipment has developed a complete odor system that includes composite manufactured with fire-retardant Vipel® K022-C bisphenol A epoxy vinyl ester from AOC.
99% efficiencies
Each packaged scrubber system from Heil is designed to meet specific customer requirements. With efficiencies of 99% or greater, the Heil packed scrubber system can be designed to meet any outlet requirement. In addition to food processing, Heil systems are used in other processes, including kraft paper production and hydrocarbon refining.
where H2S emissions are an issue.
The Heil scrubber system includes controls, fittings and a packed column of high temperature thermoplastic or ceramic media designed to provide a high surface contact area. The scrubber system packing is stored in a vertical composite cylinder that is typically 2 feet (0.6 m) in diameter and 20 feet (6.1 m) high and has 10 inch (51 cm) diameter outlets and ducts. Heil manufactures the cylinders by laying up fiberglass roll products in Vipel K022-C vinyl ester, specified for its optimum balance of processing and performance characteristics. “We like working with K022 because it handles easily,” commented Bob Hahn, General Manager for Heil Process Equipment. “The resin also
has good caustic resistance and meets critical flame retardant requirements.”
